McDougall : In this lecture, Guo Moruo begins with the disparaging remark, that Oscar Wilde's conception of making an art out of life was simply to stroll down the street wearing peculiar clothes and trying to attact people's attention. This is grossly unfair not only to Wilde's views on the proper influence of art on life, but even to his very sensible ideas on dress reform.
